Every person who is earning has some kind of a retirement plan in the form of an IRA, Roth or similar things. People, however, give very little thought to the investment in gold. However, in the United States, gold is one of the most primarily used assets. The traditional Roth IRA can be easily rolled into gold backed IRA, and the process is called a roll over. Once an employee has separated from the organization, they can claim their 401K and then invest that amount in gold backed IRA. There are several other approved ways to invest in gold.
Currently a gold bar that is pure like 24 carat gold is allowed by the IRA. Also, they have to be certified and authenticated by the NYMEX or even COMEX. These bars come in standard sizes like a 1 ounce, 10 oz, kilo (32.15 ounces), 100 oz and 400 oz. Gold coins that have the purity of the 24 karat are also allowed by IRA. Only one type of 22 karat is allowed by the IRA and that is the US Gold Eagle. Some of the acceptable forms of gold for the IRAs are the bullion coins that come from America, Canada, Australia, and Austria. Krugerrand from South Africa is not allowed because it is a 22 karat bullion coin. Other metals that are allowed by the IRA are silver and platinum group metals.
