Does Gold Back The American Dollar

Gold and the American dollar have always shared a relationship in the world markets. Gold affects the way the American dollar performs in the world market, and decides the exchange rate for it most of the time.

This usually happens everyday when the markets open trade and exchange of goods take place. On a daily basis the price of gold and oil vary by a few dollars. This is compared against the world stock exchanges. The performance of the American dollar is rated against the currency of each country like US and Euro or USD and CHF. On some days the dollar has a high price and some days it has a low price. The reasons for such variations are because of the gold price.

When the price of the US dollar falls in the world markets, it means that the exchange value of currencies of other countries is increasing. In other words, a country with a lower currency value is rising against the dollar. This means the country can purchase more gold for less, and US has to purchase the same amount of gold for more dollars. This inverse relationship is explained by the bullion rates.

Oil, gold and silver play an equally important role in the world trade markets. People who invest in gold depend on these variations in order to make a profit. This is another kind of investment which is extremely volatile to the market conditions. Gold mostly does not get affected by the stocks, and is usually higher priced only.
